Real or fake Herbalife? How to check your products are genuine (UK)
Check three things: the UK responsible-person address on the label, an intact inner seal, and a machine-printed batch code with a best-before date on the base. If all three are right, you have the real thing.
This is a fair question to ask. Herbalife products turn up on marketplaces and auction sites at prices that do not add up, sometimes with foreign labelling, sometimes past their date. Here is how to tell them apart.
1. The UK responsible-person address
Products supplied for the UK market carry the details of the company legally responsible for them here. On Herbalife packs sold in the UK you will find:

If a pack has no UK address at all, it was not supplied for the UK market. That does not automatically make it counterfeit, but it does mean the labelling, the ingredient declaration and the allergen warnings may not match what UK law requires, and nobody in the UK is accountable for it.
2. An intact seal
Canisters have an inner foil seal under the lid. Skincare tubes and bottles are sealed or shrink-wrapped. If a seal is broken, torn or missing when it reaches you, do not use the product. Contact whoever sold it to you.
3. Batch code and best-before date
Every genuine pack carries a batch or lot code and a best-before or period-after-opening marking, usually printed or embossed on the base of the container. It is machine-printed, not a sticker, and it is not blurred. A pack with no code at all, or with a code on a stuck-on label that peels, is a bad sign.
4. Labelling that reads like a product, not a photocopy
Genuine packs are printed in several languages, with the nutrition or ingredient panel properly typeset, the Herbalife logo crisp, and the text correctly spelled. Counterfeits tend to fall down on small details: fuzzy logos, wrong shades of green, spelling errors in the ingredient list, a nutrition panel that does not match the size of the pack.
Warning signs before you buy
- A price far below the recommended retail price. Members can and do sell below RRP, but a Formula 1 tub at a third of RRP is not a bargain, it is a problem.
- A marketplace seller with no identifiable Member behind them.
- Stock photos only, with no image of the actual pack, the base, or the date.
- No returns policy, or a refusal to say where the stock came from.
- Products no longer sold in the UK, or flavours that have never been on the UK list.
