Is Herbalife vegan or dairy free? A product-by-product answer (UK)
Share
Some are, some are not — and the most common mistake is turning a vegan shake into a non-vegan one by mixing it with cow's milk. The Formula 1 powder itself is made with vegan-sourced ingredients. What you add decides the rest.
Which Herbalife products are vegan?

The milk trap
This is the part worth reading twice. Formula 1 is a vegan powder, and the standard instruction is to mix it with 250 ml of semi-skimmed cow's milk. Follow that instruction and your breakfast is not vegan.
The fix, and it is Herbalife's own: mix two scoops of Formula 1 (26 g) with two scoops of Vegan Protein Drink Mix (28 g) and 300 ml of water. Fully vegan, and more protein than the milk version.
Plant milks work too, though the protein and calcium they contribute vary enormously between brands — check the carton.
Vegan is not the same as dairy free, and neither is allergen free
Worth separating these, because people often ask one question meaning the other:
- Soy is in most of the protein products, vegan ones included. Both Protein Drink Mixes contain soy; so does Formula 1.
- Oat is in Formula 1, from gluten-free oat fibre. The product is gluten-free, but oat is still declared.
- Milk is in the standard Protein Drink Mix and in the Protein Bars, and in any shake made with cow's milk.
Every product page on this site carries the full ingredient declaration and the allergen statement exactly as printed on the pack. If you have an allergy, read that rather than a summary — including this one.
A note on supplements and skincare
Capsule supplements can be vegan or not depending on the capsule shell as well as the contents, and some carry a “may contain” warning covering milk or fish from shared production. If you are strict about traces as well as ingredients, check the individual product page before ordering.
