No-bake Herbalife protein bites

Formula 1 berry bites: an official no-bake Herbalife recipe

Four ingredients, no oven, about ten minutes. Formula 1 Strawberry Delight mixed with coconut milk, wrapped around a raspberry and a blueberry. Herbalife's own recipe, and the shortest one in the range.

This is the recipe to make when you want something sweet in the fridge and cannot face turning the oven on. It makes eight bites, four portions of two.

The recipe

Makes 8 bites · 4 portions · an occasional treat

  • 78 g (6 scoops) Formula 1 Strawberry Delight
  • 40 ml reduced-fat coconut milk
  • 10 g raspberries
  • 10 g blueberries
  • Sesame seeds, chopped nuts or desiccated coconut to coat — optional
  1. Mix the coconut milk and the Formula 1 together thoroughly until you have a workable paste.
  2. Divide into eight equal pieces and flatten each one with damp hands — damp is the trick, or the mixture sticks to you instead of itself.
  3. Put a raspberry and a blueberry in the centre of each and close the mixture around it into a ball.
  4. Roll in sesame seeds, chopped nuts or coconut if you want a coating.

Two things worth knowing

  • Damp hands, not floured. There is no flour in this. Wet your hands, shake them off, and the mixture behaves.
  • Use reduced-fat coconut milk, not coconut drink. The tinned reduced-fat kind gives a paste you can shape. The carton stuff you pour on cereal is far too thin.

An occasional treat. Herbalife class these as a snack, not a meal. Formula 1 is a meal replacement only when prepared as its label instructs — two scoops with 250 ml of milk. When you use Formula 1 in a recipe, the nutritional benefits described on the label no longer apply in the same way.

Allergens

Formula 1 contains soy and oat. Any coating you add brings its own — nuts and sesame especially. Full declarations are on the product page.

Frequently asked questions

How long do they keep?

Keep them covered in the fridge and eat them within a couple of days. There is fresh fruit inside, so they do not keep like a baked biscuit.

Can I use a different Formula 1 flavour?

The recipe uses Strawberry Delight because it matches the berries. Vanilla Cream would work. A chocolate flavour with raspberries inside is a different dessert, but not a bad one.

My mixture will not hold together. What do I do?

Add the coconut milk a teaspoon at a time. Forty millilitres to 78 g of powder is a stiff ratio on purpose — too much liquid and it will not hold a ball around the fruit.

Are these vegan?

The ingredients here are — Formula 1 is made with vegan-sourced ingredients and coconut milk is not dairy. Check any coating you add, and note that Formula 1 contains soy and oat.
